How does per-scout pricing work?

Trail, Summit, and Peak all include per-scout pricing at $1/scout/month ($6/scout/year annual). Summit and Peak add a flat annual unit fee on top. Here's what real units pay annually:

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there really a free plan?
Yes! Basecamp is free forever with no time limit and no credit card required. It gives every Scout leader access to our location database, recipe library, training catalog, and council calendar. No strings attached.
Why per-scout pricing instead of a flat rate?
Per-scout pricing ensures fairness. A 15-scout pack and a 60-scout troop both pay proportionally to the value they receive. It also means a small pack starting out pays very little to get going. At annual billing, a 25-scout troop on Trail pays just $150/year — roughly two pizza nights at a committee meeting.
What happens during the 30-day free trial?
You get full access to Peak (our highest tier) for 30 days with no credit card required. After 30 days, you choose the tier that fits your unit. If you choose nothing, you revert to Basecamp — you are never locked out and your data is always preserved.
What happens if scouts join or leave mid-year?
Monthly billing recalculates your scout count each cycle. Annual billing locks your count at purchase — new scouts are prorated for remaining months, and departing scouts can be replaced at no charge.
Can I switch plans at any time?
Absolutely. Upgrades take effect immediately with a prorated charge. Downgrades take effect at your next renewal — you keep access to higher-tier features until your current period ends.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your data is preserved in read-only mode for 90 days. During this period, re-subscribing restores full access instantly. After 90 days, you revert to Basecamp. We never delete your data.
Do you offer discounts for annual billing?
Yes — 50% off, the most aggressive annual discount in scouting software. Annual billing is $6/scout/year vs. $12/scout/year on monthly. We also have a Founding Member program: the first 100 paid units get 25% off per-scout pricing for life.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through Stripe. Annual billing is a single upfront charge. Basecamp requires no payment method at all.
Can I import data from other platforms?
Yes. Trail and above support importing from TroopMaster, Scoutbook, TroopTrack, TroopWebHost, and generic CSV files. We also export to BSA Internet Advancement 2.0 format.
Is my data secure?
Yes. MySummitKeep is built on Microsoft Azure with enterprise-grade security. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use OID-based authentication through Microsoft Entra, enforce multi-tenancy isolation, and follow OWASP best practices.
Is MySummitKeep affiliated with the BSA?
No. MySummitKeep is an independent platform built by Scout leaders for Scout leaders. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Boy Scouts of America.
